Words of Peace…

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me.”

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.”

(John 14:1, 27, NRSV)

What happens to us when we read these words of Jesus from the Gospel of John? Life has many diverse seasons, just like the weather, it changes often without warning. Are we always ready for the next change to take place? Life can pull us down when we are not aware of the changes that may be coming our way. We don’t know what is next or what is just around the corner, but we can try and prepare ourselves in the best way possible. When we read scriptures like these and meditate on them in prayer, we become better prepared than we were before. We will learn to include prayer and scripture into our regular daily routine and we will gain strength from the Lord while doing these things. Troubles will come and go through life and we all have to deal with them. Will I be ready for what is around the corner or for what is coming my way next?

Be still this weekend…..Trent

A Psalm of Discernment

A few thoughts for the day…

Whose advice are we following today?

What path are we choosing to walk today?

What do we desire in life?

Psalm 1

1 Happy are those
who do not follow the advice of the wicked,
or take the path that sinners tread,
or sit in the seat of scoffers;
2 but their delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law they meditate day and night.
3 They are like trees
planted by streams of water,
which yield their fruit in its season,
and their leaves do not wither.
In all that they do, they prosper.
4 The wicked are not so,
but are like chaff that the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
6 for the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.   ((NRSV)
